Knowledge Management System

It is a flexible framework that allows using several annotation and retrieval document strategies for Knowledge Management Systems. It provides support to evaluate the usefulness and accuracy of different algorithms and tools, even their possible combinations. The framework offers the possibility to change the annotation and retrieval document strategy, the natural language processing tool, the ontology access tool, the tesauri used in the semantic expansion of the document content, and event, including strategies to update the domain ontology from the unstructured natural language data of the document content. Domain ontologies are frequently used to represent the specific knowledge of the domain in most annotation and retrieval document strategies.

BPM-KM integration architecture

It is an agent-based architecture for an integration of business process orchestrated by a WfMS with the organizational knowledge repository administered by ontology-driven KM systems. This architecture proactively provides relevant knowledge to tasks, considering their context and stores relevant knowledge in a proper way for future requirements. In case of necessity of more information, also the architecture reactively brings knowledge through natural language queries. Conventional workflows are extended with KM-support automatic tasks that are responsible for retrieving knowledge and storing results.

Onto-DOM (Ontology-based Distributed Organisational Memory)

It is an ontology-driven knowledge management architecture that takes into account autonomy and coordination principles. Such architecture uses an ontology approach to annotate and retrieve information based on a distributed organizational memory strategy that processes the users’ natural language queries.

Ontology-based knowledge retrieval strategies

Enterprises are inserted in a competitive environment in which knowledge is vital to survive in the current global market. Competition is no longer conceived as it was in traditional markets. In this global market, knowledge is considered an asset that has an economic value for an organization and a strategic resource used to increase productivity and over stability in dynamic competitive environments. Such significance of knowledge implies the need for protecting this vital resource by safeguarding the right access, its persistence over time, and its adequate retrieval. This project includes an organizational memory architecture, and a set of annotation and retrieval information strategies based on domain ontologies that take in account complex words to retrieve information through natural language queries.

Ontology-evolution strategies

It includes a set of ontology evolution strategies for a knowledge management architecture based on distributed organisational memories. These strategy provides support for annotation and retrieval knowledge through natural language queries. The proposed strategies adds new terms to domain ontology during the annotated process of a document, allowing the annotation process execution with an uncomplete ontology.
